This great piece of BINprovisation is in a tiny town called Santa Rosa, the Amazon Basin, Bolivia.

"This gem is at the top of the Colca Canyon in Peru, the world's second deepest. Up yours, Grand Canyon, you're NUFFINK," says Rob, our binternational refuse specialist.

IS THIS THE BEST BIN IN THE WORLD?

We may never know but it has to be up there. Luckily we have a crack team sending us bintelligence on a regular basis so one day we may know the truth.

For now, let's take pleasure in its incredible subtlety amidst the craggy surroundings. Top job Rob.

2/2: Basura, Volcan Masaya, Nicaragua

GUATAPE FORTNIGHT COMES TO A CLOSE with this wonderfully energetic composition. Some would say the green bin hanging from a lamp post is an after thought. Some would say it's modestly understated.... what do you think?

IT'S GUATAPE WEEK ON BIN AROUND THE WORLD. First up:

"This ornate example is in the colourful town of Guatape, Colombia," says our globetrotting bin spotter, Rob.

We believe this is the most delicate bin we've seen. Do you know different? If so, send visual proof to BINAROUNDTHEWORLDD@gmail.com

A good week to all our readers.

PERU. Taking recycling seriously, even in the most arid conditions. Good to see.

"R2D2 is holidaying in Huacachina, Peru," says Rob. He's still out there, sourcing the finest bins in the world, just for you.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A BIN SPOTTER THEN YOU NEED A KEEN EYE. They crop up in the most unlikely places. If you take a peek on board the Sheila Ann on the Panama Canal you'll see they've got a selection of recycling bins... see them... zoom in. Job done.

Cheers Rob/Binjamin.

SUMMER-SUMMER-SUMMERTIME.

Place: Central Marketplace, Masaya, Nicaragua.

Bin style: stripped back steel, reminiscent of a small, portly man pushing his belly out.

Thanks to Rob for yet another gem from the BATW-tour. A sterling job.

WOULD YOU LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT FROG?! If you're lucky, and you're in the area, you might find him at Finca Vacencia, Isla De Ometepe, NICARAGUA.

PS. Whoever made 4 comments recently, thanks. Sometimes it gets lonely doing the rounds before everyone gets up. Your thoughts make it all worthwhile, we'll never send them to landfill, promise.

PPS. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: ROB, formerly known as Osama Binman Laden is now going by the name Binjamin Netanyahu. Cheers.

"BASURA BASURA! Ooh binman when you talk like that, you make me wanna bin bag, Sulo, no Biffa - BASURA BASURA!"

(Sing this to the tune of that Shakira song, your colleagues'll love it.)

IF THIS DOESN'T TIKAL YOUR FANCY THEN YOU MAY(AN) WANT TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. We don't deal in (F)lo-res pictures usually. Two in a week. Sheesh. We'll be in ruins soon.

ps. You can figure this lot out right?

HE CAN BE YOUR HERO BABY. HE CAN KISS AWAY THE PAIN - with bins. What are we on about? Who can this maverick be? Only Rob aka Osama Binman Laden. He's got his eye out for any tasty garbage cans, poubelles, rubbish bins... this one is from Flores which is in Guatemala. They speak Spanish or Mayan there. Sadly we only know the former. File this one with the other cubo de la basuras. Cheers. Keep it tropical.

This sturdy looking red number can be found in Caye Caulker, Belize. Our boy Rob was there recently don'tchaknow?

Monday, 27 June 2011

AS PROMISED... Our boy Rob (aka Osama Binman Laden) has taken leave on a sabbatical of sorts, helping out the binmen of the world. His first stop was Mexico city, where he spotted this pleasing arch topped number outside the Scientology place.

Bins there are called cubo de la basura - at least that what Google Translate tells us.
